I have done this and used it for years. I use font coloring, hippie expand,
and java mode the most. Once you use hippie expand, there's no turning
back. I also did a lot of work with rmail so that it supported email
address completion, etc., but I haven't used that for years since the web
took over ...
I think it feels a lot like Jove.
I've included a zip file with emacslib and .emacs.jove. I haven't
completely tested the ".emacs.jove" but it seems to work OK. A lot of the
stuff in emacslib isn't really necessary anymore, but I keep it around in
case I am running an older version of emacs.
